A.E. - Rev. R. Bruce Wallace
A son of the South, Bruce was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Reared Presbyterian, he experienced a spiritual awakening in his mid-twenties during a Southern Baptist Bible study. Shortly thereafter, Bruce enrolled in seminary and completed his degree at St. Paul School of Theology.
Upon graduating, Bruce was appointed to the Wagner-Delmont Charge in South Dakota. That same year, he met and married another pastor, the Reverend Zelma Lang. Zelma and Bruce served for several years as co-pastors, then transferred to Arkansas, where they served separate charges and Zelma earned an MA in speech communication. Zelma’s Ph.D. studies brought them to Pennsylvania, where Bruce served the Milesburg-Curtin Charge. In 1995, with Zelma teaching at Lock Haven University (and later, Penn College) Bruce began 21 years of service in Lock Haven, retiring in 2016.
In retirement, Bruce serves as pastor of Nisbet UMC in the Northern Wilds District and as Assisting Elder in the Mountain Valley District. His avocations include music and photography.
Fun fact: Bruce is a practitioner of the 19th-century process of tintype photography.
